The International Monetary Fund’s 10-member mission will start reviewing the fulfilment of the conditions of its loan programme with Bangladesh on Wednesday, ahead of the release of the third tranche of the loan.

The review mission is scheduled to reach Dhaka on Tuesday and will stay in Bangladesh until May 8. It will hold meetings with several government bodies and the central bank.

Local news portals said their engagements will focus on foreign exchange reserves, the inflation situation, the banking sector, and reforms to the revenue system.

Bangladesh received $1.16 billion in two tranches under the $4.7 billion loan programme that was approved in January last year. The country is likely to get the third tranche within two months.
