Dhaka bourse opens flat

Dhaka Stock Exchange has displayed a flat movement as major sectors performed mixed on Sunday, the first day of the week.


Among the major sectors, the banking sector failed to keep investors’ increased participation alive on the prime bourse.


In last week, listed banks dominated the market riding on investors’ attention which followed the growth in quarterly disclosures.   


The weekly opening session started on a positive note with the DSE broad index DSEX gaining 20 points within 10 minutes. Later, the DSEX lost some points and a flat movement was observed till 11:30 am.


After one hour of the session, the DSE broad index DSEX closed at 5891 points with a rise of 0.16 per cent or 10.71 points.

The shariah-based index DSES rose 0.24 per cent or 3.20 points to close at 1314.83 points, while the blue chip index DS30 went up by 0.25 per cent or 5.51 points to close at 2128.63 points.


The turnover stood at above Tk 1.89 billion after one hour of the session.


Appollo Ispat Complex was on the top of turnover chart with a value of Tk 168 milion followed by IFAD Autos Tk 144 milion, BBS Cables Tk 144 million, Keya Cosmetics Tk 115 million and Fu-Wang Food Tk 89 million.
