MetLife Foundation and MicroSave jointly flagged off the i3 programme at a launching event in the capital on Monday.
Innovate, Implement, Impact (i3) programme aims to continue meaningful financial inclusion to Bangladesh.
Posts, Telecommunications and IT Minister Mustafa Jabbar inaugurated the programme as the chief guest.
Mr.Manoj Kumar Sharma, regional director, Asia, MicroSave, gave a keynote presentation at the launch.
Syed Almas Kabir, president of BASIS, and Syed Hammadul Karim, general manager of MetLife, were also present as the special guests.
The initiative seeks to utilise digital technology and uncover the needs, aspirations, and behaviours of low- and moderate-income (LMI) people and make a direct impact on them with better designed products and services.
MicroSave shared the existing initiatives under the i3 program in Bangladesh. Industry experts also engaged in active discussion to identify possible opportunities, using technology, to contribute to the financial inclusion agenda in Bangladesh.
MetLife Foundation has funded this 36-month initiative under its “Leveraging Technology for Meaningful Financial Inclusion in Bangladesh, China, Malaysia & Vietnam” project.
The project is implemented in Bangladesh and Vietnam by MicroSave and in China and Malaysia by UNCDF. Bangladesh is first off the block.
