Indian product boycott gets people’s support: Rizvi

The people of Bangladesh have supported the movement of boycotting Indian products, senior joint secretary general of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said on Sunday.

"The most popular word of today's politics is 'Boycott Indian Products'," he told media at the party's Nayapaltan office, adding that the sentiment created among the people not in a single day.

The people of Bangladesh extended their support to the movement due to longstanding insult, deprivation and harassment, he continued.

"Today India says about friendship but they are yet to give us our due share of waters of the common rivers. They kill innocent Bangladeshis on the frontiers. Their activities have prompted the people to be outspoken and raise their voices," he maintained.

He alleged that India (the present government of India) has developed friendship with a political party in Bangladesh, but not with the people of Bangladesh.

The ruling Awami League snatched away people's voting rights while the policymakers of India have been extending support to the present government of Bangladesh, creating the anti-Indian sentiment.
