Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has said that it becomes difficult for law-enforcement agencies to find out them who willingly go into hiding.

“Many a times people hole themselves up, they go underground and embarrass us,” the minister remarked.

He made the remarks while talking with journalists at the Crime Reporters Association of Bangladesh (CRAB) in Dhaka on Wednesday.

“It becomes really difficult for the detectives to handle such ‘missing’ cases. But still we hope that we will be able to find them,” he said.

Mubashar Hasan, Assistant Professor at North South University’s political science and sociology department, has been missing since Tuesday afternoon.

Replying a question regarding Mubashar, the minister said, “I do not have the whole picture right now but we will take action for sure.”

“People go missing for various reasons in this country,” Kamal had said at a programme earlier.

“Sometimes it’s related to business, they hole themselves up to avoid paying dues. Sometimes it’s social. Criminals go underground when they sense that law enforcers are trying to arrest them,” the minister said.

When asked about irregularities by police personnel, the home minister said: “All the offenders will be brought to justice.”

According to a bdnews24.com report, the latest arrestee in Avijit Roy murder case has revealed “many things,” he added. “Those arrested are giving out a lot of information. Our detectives will gradually disclose them to you.”

Kamal inaugurated the renovated building of CRAB and handed identity cards to its members.
