Local administration to investigate 'obscenity' at Patuakhali Shaheed Minar

The local administration has opened a probe into an alleged incident of ‘obscenity’ at the altar of Shaheed Minar in Patuakhali's Kalapara Upazila, according to bdnews24.com.

Kalapara Mayor Bipul Halder organised an event titled 'Mayor Night' at the Shaheed Minar on Thursday.

A probe committee was formed after allegations of 'inappropriate dances’ were raised, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Tanvir Rahman said. 

"A girl performed a dance to a Hindi song at the event which sparked widespread outrage on social media."

A three-member panel was subsequently formed under the instructions of the district administration. It has been given until April 23 to submit a report, the UNO added.  

The Mayor could not be reached for comment.
