Blanket distribution programme continues in Gaibandha

Amid the cold wave sweeping over Gaibandha region, the district administration has intensified the programme of blanket distribution among the affected people.

Official sources said the district administration received as many as 41,000 pieces of blankets from the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief this season to distribute them among the cold-hit people.

The blankets are being distributed to distressed and poor people of all the seven upazilas under the direct supervision of district and concerned upazila administrations and local government bodies including social organisations, reports BSS.

On Tuesday evening, 520 pieces of blankets were distributed to river eroded people including poor fishermen of Goghat village in Kamarjani union under Sadar upazila of the district.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abdul Matin formally distributed the blankets.
