The concept of human rights

THE concept of human rights came under limelight in early 20th century. The United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948. In 1950 General Assembly agreed to observe every year on December 10 as the International Day of Human Rights. Everyone is entitled to his/her fundamental rights. But the refugees or migrants, a person with disabilities, women, children, indigenous people and minority groups are at a risk of discrimination or violence in many parts of the world. We can see that their rights are trampled under the feet. We see it on the streets, at school, at work, in the public transport and on social media. But in this 21st century, it is time for each one of us to stand against violation of human rights.
