A few days ago while I was parking my motor bike in underground parking of a building at Motijheel, I noticed that half of the parking space was being used as stores. It is known that many building owners use their underground parking spaces as store and space for parking is reduced in this way. Not finding a space in underground parking, many people are compelled to park their car on the roadside which creates hindrance to smooth traffic movement. We lose hundreds of working hours due to traffic gridlock and it is important that the situation should not be allowed to continue like this as it is a sheer wastage of time and money. We must find all possible ways to bring down traffic congestion to a tolerable limit. Many dishonest building owners rent out their underground spaces for some other purposes and make people park their vehicles on the roadside. I sincerely hope that the concerned authorities will take immediate steps in this regard and help ease the traffic situation in the city.
