IT was shocking to see the picture of wailing young students as their school was reduced to ashes by fire. The incident took place in Gaibandha. The school, was set up by Gono Unnayon Kendra, an NGO in a remote char area. Some unidentified criminals did the job to the utter surprise of the students and local people. The school was established for poor and under-privileged children of the area. It stood as a beacon of hope for the deprived people of our society. The law enforcers are investigating into the matter and I am sure they will uncover the truth and identify the people responsible for it; and the criminals will be duly punished. The education ministry should help the school authority to recover the loss and rebuild the school and restart academic activities of the school immediately. Every one should remember that education is a matter of right for the people and not a luxury and every child deserves an opportunity for education irrespective of their social standing. I am sure the perpetrator of the crime will get due punishment for their heinous crime and the school will be rebuilt soon.
