MIRPUR, Khilgoan and many other localities in Dhaka are now suffering from short supply of gas in their households. The gas supply is particularly low from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm which is the prime time for household works.
Many households are compelled to procure extra LP gas cylinder to enable them to prepare food items when the gas pressure is low and it adds extra expenses to their budgets. In a situation like this, a decision to raise gas prices has irked the city dwellers.
The Titas Gas authority should improve its services first before considering about raising the gas prices. Moreover, gas prices were revised only a few months ago. Now the price and demand of LP gas will go up and it will serve the interest of some businessmen. People will not hesitate to pay extra money if they can have adequate supply. I sincerely hope the government will ensure smooth and uninterrupted supply of gas for the household consumers first and then think about any price increase.
