ALTHOUGH Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport of Bangladesh is not as busy as any other international airports in developed countries of Asia or Europe, it is busier than countries like Nepal and Maldives. Therefore, passenger service should be improved as many people pass through the international airport at Dhaka. Many flights are scheduled to land here from different countries of the world. So a lot really depends on the kind of service delivered to these passengers. An important service at any major airport is baggage service. Here it is not operated under a well-organized system. People do not get their baggage promptly, sometimes some baggage are lost. Other services like immigration service, internet & telephone, medical help, etc., are far from ideal and leave a lot to be desired. Trolleys are scarce and some times broken trolleys are available at the airport. All these services are the minimum that are expected of an international airport and must be maintained at all costs. Otherwise, the foreign nationals will have a wrong impression about our country. They will prefer to avoid our country and will not visit here unless they are compelled to. The authorities should take immediate steps to improve the standard of services at the airport and brighten the image of the country as a whole.
