The number of sport-utility vehicles (SUV) registration in the hard/soft category in the country has doubled in nearly a decade, thanks to people’s growing purchasing power as well as soaring economy, according to an official data.
A total of 33,933 SUVs were registered during the period between 2011 to June 2020 while the number was 32,286 until 2010, according to Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) statistics.
The BRTA data showed that a total of 29,325 sport-utility vehicles in about one decade from 2011 to June 2020 were registered in Dhaka whereas 19,520 were registered until 2010.
The number of SUVs registration stood at 1,943 in the first six months of the current calendar year while 2,671 sport-utility vehicles were registered in January to June of 2019, the BRTA revealed the data.
