Pathao resumes car services in Dhaka

Pathao officially resumed its car services from Thursday with almost 2,000 four-wheelers after a break of three months due to coronavirus pandemic.

Earlier, due to strict stance of the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) of enlisting vehicles with both the ride-sharing companies and the regulator, the ride-sharing platform had to suspend their service.

Pathao on Thursday in statement made the announcement of resuming service.

The company also said it has taken number of health safety measures to offer a safe journey to the city customers.

It claimed that they have reduced fares and increased the commissions to 90 per cent for its drivers, the news release added.

During the pandemic the car service will be operated separating the driver’s seat with a clear plastic covering while passengers are encouraged to sit in the backseat to minimise contact.

The ride-sharing platform will educate drivers to check their temperature daily and get medical help if they are feeling unwell.

The drivers, who are unwell, will be temporarily suspended and will be reassigned after they submit a medical certificate to prove they are COVID-19 free.

Besides, they have taken measures to educate passengers and drivers to maintain health guidance, including disinfect their hands, arms, and elbows using sanitizers or rinse them with soap before and after each ride.

Moreover, in partnership with ACI and Mr. Hygiene, Pathao will provide face masks, hair covers, gloves, disinfectants, and hand sanitizers to their drivers.

It, however, discouraged its drivers and customers to avoid risky and unsafe “offline trips”, in the statement.
