Liquid milk prices go higher

Liquid milk prices increased notably in last two days in the country battering the consumers.

Prices of pasteurised packet milk of almost all brands increased to Tk 70 a litre from Tk 65.

Half a litre packet of milk prices increased to Tk 38-40 from Tk 34-35 earlier.

Per packet of 200 ml and 250 ml milk went up by Tk 3.00-4.00.

Local companies increased the prices of liquid milk at the same time as importers upped those of powdered milk.

State-run Milk Vita raised the prices of pasteurised milk, which private companies followed suit.

The new prices took effect from March 11-12, said grocers.

Brac Dairy and Food Project, which markets Aarong branded milk, also lifted the prices from Thursday, said Mehedi Hasan, head of sales at the company.
