Indonesia has sought the visa-on-arrival facility at the airports in Bangladesh for its citizens who are qualified.

Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi disclosed it to reporters after a meeting with the Indonesian ambassador to Dhaka, Mrs. Rina P. Soemarno, at his Secretariat office on Wednesday.

The commerce minister said Indonesia sought the landing visa for its nationals at the airports in Bangladesh.

Bangladeshi citizens now enjoy the visa-free entry to Indonesia for the travel purpose.

Currently, Indonesian nationals do not get the visa-free entry to Bangladesh's airports.

Bangladesh and Indonesia will sign a Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) soon. Both countries will be benefited, if the trade agreement is signed.

The minister expressed his hope that "we will be able to export our ready-made garment (RMG) to Indonesia" after signing the PTA.

"We want to increase our volume of exports to Indonesia. Indonesia also wants to try to increase export to Bangladesh," Tipu Munshi said.

The meeting on Wednesday also discussed that Bangladesh and Indonesia would work together to increase the investment and trade volume between the two countries.

Senior officials of the ministry of commerce (MoC) were present on the occasion.
