DCCI, BUP to jointly work for research for economic development

Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) on Tuesday to work jointly for research.

DCCI President Shams Mahmud and Vice Chancellor of BUP Major General Ataul Hakim Sarwar Hasan, SBP, SGP, ndc, afwc, psc, PhD signed the document on behalf of their respective organisations at the BUP campus in Mirpur Cantonment, Dhaka.

The MoU is an initiative of industry-academia collaboration for the greater interest of the economy.

According to the MoU, both organisations shall jointly organise seminars, workshops, job fairs and business conferences, according to a press release.

Different need-based courses, trainings will also be conducted mutually. According to the understanding, DCCI will assist in providing internships to BUP students as well.

DCCI President Shams Mahmud said his organisation has always been in the forefront in dealing with the need, opportunities and challenges linked with skills development.

The MoU signed is a milestone and will work for research and skill development that will usher a scope of creating innovative workforce needed for the economic development of the country, he insists.

Shams Mahmud also underscored the importance of research and innovation to attain the goals of becoming a developed nation.

Vice Chancellor of BUP Major General Ataul Hakim Sarwar Hasan, SBP, SGP, ndc, afwc, psc, PhD in his speech requested DCCI to put forward the criteria and need of skills that actually necessary for the industry so that academia can provide the curriculum according to the demand of the business sector.

Mr Hasan said the industry sector of Bangladesh itself needs huge skilled executives and BUP is working hard to meet this growing demand for the sake of our own benefit.

He also assured DCCI of all possible support from the BUP to work hand in hand in a win-win situation.   

Tech-based international standard education system to cope with the rapidly changing economic world, the vice chancellor stressed.

Professor of Bangabandhu Chair, BUP and eminent academician Professor Dr. Syed Anwar Hossain hailed the MoU signed between DCCI and BUP.

He said this mutual collaboration will open up a common platform both for industry and academia to work jointly for the greater interest of Bangladesh.

Major Md. Murshidul Azad, SGP, SUP, G, Deputy Registrar (Academic Section) moderated the programme.

Senior Vice President, DCCI N K A Mobin, FCA, FCS, Vice President, DCCI Mohammad Bashiruddin, Brig Gen Md Mefta Ul Karim, BSP, SPP, BPM, ndc, psc, Registrar, BUP, Golam Zilani, Convenor, Skill Development Standing Committee, DCCI, Secretary General (Acting), DCCI Afsarul Arifeen, Secretary, DCCI Md. Joynal Abdin were also present among others during the MoU signing ceremony.
