Top 10 cos snare 44pc transaction on DSE

The top 10 traded companies, including four banks, captured nearly 44 per cent transaction of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) Wednesday while Lafarge Surma Cement accounted for more than 20 per cent turnover alone.

Riding on Lafarge Surma, the total turnover on the premier bourse reached Tk 5.52 billion, which was nearly 49 per cent higher from the previous day's Tk 3.71 billion. Among other active shares in terms of value included Olympic Industries, Islami Bank, Paramount Textile, Nahee Aluminium, City Bank, Shahjalal Islami Bank, LankaBangla Finance, Grameenphone and Brac Bank.

Olympic Industries followed next, with shares of Tk 358 million changing hands. The company's share price jumped 6.98 per cent to close at Tk 294.10.

Islami Bank notched the third spot, with shares of Tk 184 million changing hands. Its share price ended 1.12 per cent higher at Tk 36.10 each.

Paramount Textile emerged as the fourth leader with shares of Tk 130 million changing hands. The company's share price settled at Tk 42.30, advancing 4.70 per cent.

Nahee Aluminum featured a turnover of Tk 126 million. The newly listed company's share price plunged 5.03 per cent to close at Tk 77.40.

The turnover of City Bank was Tk 111 million. The bank's share price ended 0.19 per cent higher at Tk 52.20.

Shahjalal Bank featured a turnover of Tk 108 million. The bank's share price advanced 1.54 per cent to close at Tk 32.80.

The turnover of LankaBangla Finance was Tk 95 million. Its share price fell 1.67 per cent to close at Tk 47.20.

Grameenphone featured a turnover of Tk 92 million. The largest market cap listed company's share price closed at Tk 467.90, advancing 0.28 per cent.

Brac Bank also made its way to the top ten turnover chart, with shares of Tk 86 million changing hands. Its share price closed 0.93 per cent higher at Tk 108 each.
