Dhaka stocks maintain positive trend at midday

Dhaka bourse on Tuesday opened on positive note and maintained the trend for more than two hours following investors’ increased participations.

Traders’ participation was mostly concentrated on small-cap companies including the insurers.

After two hours of the trading, DSEX, the benchmark index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), stood at 4927.43 points with a rise of 0.51 per cent or 25.28 points at 12:06pm when the report was filed.

The shariah based index DSES rose 0.32 per cent or 3.62 points to stand at 1118.19 points at that time.

The DS30 index comprising blue chip securities went up by 0.41 per cent or 6.94 points to remain at 1697.22 points till then.

Of total issues were being traded, 201 advanced, 81 declined and 70 were unchanged till 12.06pm.

The premier bourse DSE featured a turnover of above Tk 4.18 billion when the report was filed.

Of the most traded stocks, Beximco pharmaceuticals featured a turnover of Tk 227 million followed by BRAC Bank Tk 187 million, Peoples Insurance Tk 185, Continental Insurance Tk 183 million and Rupali Insurance Company Tk 148 million.
