Ten cos snare 35pc transaction on DSE

Top 10 traded companies, including seven banks, Wednesday captured nearly 35 per cent transaction of the Dhaka bourse while LankaBangla Finance topped the chart.
The total turnover on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) stood at Tk 8.84 billion on the day, which was Tk 10 per cent higher than the previous day's Tk 8.01 billion.
The most active shares in terms of value included LankaBangla Finance, Exim Bank, City Bank, Aamra Networks, Dutch-Bangla Bank, NCC Bank, Premier Bank, National Bank, Islami Bank and BBS Cables.
Of them, share price of eight companies rose up to 9.96 per cent, one faced marginal correction while one remained unchanged on the day over the previous session.
According to the statistics available with the DSE, about 8.45 million shares of LankaBangla were traded, generating a turnover of Tk 536 million, which was 6.06 per cent of the premier bourse's total turnover value.
The company's share price hovered between Tk 62.20 and Tk 64.20, before closing at Tk 64 each, advancing 3.22 per cent over the previous session.
Exim Bank followed next, with shares of Tk 407 million changing hands. It was 4.60 per cent of the total turnover transaction. The bank's share price advanced 1.06 per cent to close at Tk 19 each.
City Bank notched the third spot, with shares of Tk 347 million changing hands, which was 3.92 per cent of the total turnover. The bank's share price closed at Tk 48.10 each, gaining 2.12 per cent over the previous day.
The newly listed Aamra Networks emerged as fourth with shares of Tk 319 million changing hands, grabbing 3.60 per cent of the day's total turnover. The IT Company's share price jumped 9.96 per cent to close at Tk 142.40 each. It was also the day's highest gainer.
The turnover of Dutch-Bangla Bank was Tk 297 million, capturing 3.36 per cent of the day's total transaction. The bank's share price closed at Tk 166.80, soaring 9.23 per cent. It was the day's second highest gainer.
NCC Bank featured a turnover of Tk 270 million which was 3.05 per cent of the day's total turnover. The bank's share price rose 3.20 per cent to close at Tk 19.30 each.
The turnover of Premier Bank was Tk 265 million, grabbing 2.99 per cent of the day's total turnover. The bank's share price closed at Tk 18.30, advancing 0.55 per cent.
National Bank featured a turnover of Tk 226 million, which was 2.56 per cent of the day's total transaction. The bank's share price closed at Tk 15.20 each, remaining unchanged over the previous day.
The turnover of Islami Bank was Tk 209 million, capturing 2.37 per cent of the day's total turnover. The bank's share price closed at Tk 36.10 each, losing 2.16 per cent over the previous day.
BBS Cables was also included in the top ten turnover chart with shares of Tk 202 million changing hands. The company's share price closed at Tk 135.50 each, advancing 5.20 per cent over the previous day.
