Stocks maintain upward trend

Dhaka and Chittagong stock markets have maintained an upward trend with all indices increasing markedly on Sunday, the first session of the week.

DSEX, prime index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) advanced 24 points or 0.39 per cent to settle at 6306 points.

Two other indices of the premier bourse also edged up.

Of them, DS30 index comprising the blue-chips rose 7.83 points or 0.56 per cent to finish at 1383.28 points, and Shariah index DSES gained 10.7 points or 0.46 per cent to finish at 2290.

Turnover, an important indicator of the market, stood at Tk 9707 million which was 7379 million on the previous day.

Of 324 issues traded on DSE trading floor, 134 higher,146 lower and 44 remained unchanged on the first trading day of the week.

Chittagong Stocks Exchange ended higher with its selective categories index - CSCX – advancing 56.27   points to close at 11,825.

Of the 233 issues traded, 106 closed higher, 105 lower and 22 stayed unchanged on the CSE trading floor.

The port city bourse traded a total of 10,184,861 shares and mutual fund units worth Tk 354 million in turnover.
