DSE opens week on negative note

The Dhaka bourse opened the week’s session marginally lower on Sunday amid mixed performance of large cap companies.

Investors’ participation was concentrated mostly on small cap companies. 

After two hours of volatility, DSEX, the broad index of DSE, stood at 4903.79 points with a loss of 0.21 per cent or 10.24 points.

The shariah based index DSES declined 0.37 per cent or 4.16 points to stand at 1110.0 points 12.02 pm when the report was filed.

And the DS30 index comprising blue chip securities went down by 0.38 per cent or 6.57 points to reach 1685.86 points within the same time period.

Of the total issues were being traded, 136 advanced, 162 declined and 57 were unchanged till then.

The country’s premier bourse posted a turnover of Tk 4.61 billion when the report was filed.

Of the most traded stocks, Sandhani Insurance featured a turnover of Tk 217 million followed by Global Insurance, Paramount Textile, City General Insurance Company and Pioneer Insurance Company.

Of the companies which witnessed the most price appreciation, the share price of Global Insurance Company advanced 25 per cent to reach Tk 51.40 each within two hours of the session.

During the period, Jute Spinners was on top of the chart of top 10 losers.
