Balance tilts toward India’s side

Bangladesh scored 169 for 4 in 31 overs in their do or die match against India at Birmingham on Monday.

Shakib Al Hasan and Mosaddek were at the crease on 62 and 2 runs respectively.

Earlier, after winning the toss and electing to bat, India posted a commanding score of 314 runs for 9 wickets in stipulated 50 overs.

Rohit Sharma scored his second century in two days scoring 104 runs to put India to a firm position.  Other opener KL Rahul also chipped in with 77 runs.

Although Muftafiz sent dangerous Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandaya back to the pavilion in the same over, the rest of Indian batters capitalised on the foundation laid by the openers through useful contributions.

Mustafiz, the pick of Bangladesh bowlers, took 5 wickets for 59 runs.

In reply Bangladesh started to lose wickets at regular intervals owing to bad decision making and shots.

Bangladesh will skit out of semi-final race if they lose this match irrespective of the outcome of their final match against Pakistan.
