Inside our prisons

I was shocked to read about the sufferings of the prisoners in an article carried by a local daily. It was unfortunate to know that they have to pay money to get a place to sleep and water to bathe and so on. The whole matter needs to be investigated into and everyone who is involved in such malpractices deserves to be punished. The disclosure has raised a storm in the social media.
I am sure the prison authority will conduct an investigation into the matter. We hear about many difficulties being faced by people in prison, but this was totally shocking. A complaint box should be opened so that the sufferers or their near and dear ones can lodge their complaints. Such illegal activities should not be allowed to continue. We know from the media that our prisons are overcrowded and it is very difficult for the inmates to have minimum facilities there. The government should ensure discipline in the prisons so that the prisoners can have minimum facilities which they deserve as human beings.
