Growing popularity of FM radio

RADIO has made a comeback in the life of urban people through private endeavours as we now see a large number of people taking interest in listening to FM band radio. I remember I was an avid listener of radio in 1980s when I was young. Gradually cable TV and internet grabbed the attention of people and radio went almost out of circulation.

We had never thought that radio would come back so soon. But it has returned with a bang and conquered particularly the young generation. Currently as all mobile sets have radio options, everyone can listen to radio on FM band and enjoy his/her favourite programmes and since there are many radio channels, they have the option to pick and choose. People now have a chance to enjoy music when they are stuck on the road either due to traffic gridlock or political gatherings. More importantly, FM radio channels are helping our music to flourish with young and budding talents making useful contributions. FM channels are relatively new in our country and I hope that they will continue to produce better music and entertaining programmes to enrich our culture.
