Prime Bank, BASIS join hands to finance MSMEs

Prime Bank Ltd on Tuesday announced an alliance with Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) to finance micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) under the ICT sector.

BASIS members can apply for up to Tk 5.0 million worth of collateral-free loans at 9.0 per cent interest rate under the new scheme, the bank officials said.

The new scheme for the ICT industry was unveiled at a virtual press conference organised by Prime Bank Ltd.

State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak addressed the event as the chief guest while BASIS President Syed Almas Kabir, Vice-President Shoeb Ahmed Masud, Prime Bank’s Head of MSME Syed M Omar Tayub, and Head of Brand and Communication Nazmul Karim Chowdhury also spoke on the occasion with Prime Bank’s Managing Director & CEO Rahel Ahmed in the chair.

The alliance will enable easy access to finance to the ICT & ITES companies as they prepare for the next step of expansion, said Mr Tayub.

He also said the bank has already initiated the scheme on a pilot basis with 10 companies.

The loan will be disbursed under the bank’s ‘Prime Shahaj’ loan product for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), he said.
