A committed, patriotic editor

We recall with great sorrow that today is the 1st death anniversary of one of our iconic business journalist and the founder Editor of The Financial Express Mr. A. H. M. Moazzem Hossain. A brilliant scholar and an alumni of Dhaka University, he dedicated his entire life in improving the socio-economic condition of people through his thoughts, write up, discussion and leadership in the financial sector.

I was privileged to have known him ever since the journey of The Financial Express. He was a promising journalist and I had the opportunity to interact with him on a number of occasions over the years, visited places, attended seminars, participated in different "talk shows" and shared our views on financial issues and was greatly benefitted with his deeper understanding and openness in his expression.

Mr Moazzem Hossain enriched his profound knowledge through extensive visit, attending and representing the country in international forums and made remarkable contribution through his work with almost all the renowned news agencies. I must make a mention of his brilliant professional acumen where his untiring effort made The Financial Express a great success.

Though he never cared for recognition, he earned the reputation of a committed and patriotic editor and a columnist and received a number of awards for his leading role in the financial journalism and shaping the financial management within and beyond national boundary.

It's an old saying, "The body dies, not the soul". Mr. Moazzem will always be with us in our heart and we pray for the departed soul.

Mir Nasir Hossain is former president of FBCCI.
