Seven persons including five judges get international mediation award

Seven persons including five judges of Bangladesh, India, and Kenya have been selected for the ‘international mediation award 2021’ for their role in peacekeeping in social life, judiciary, and state through mediation.

The awardees are--- judges of the Bangladesh Supreme Court Justice Md Ashraful Kamal and Justice Ahmed Sohel, former chief justice of Jammu and Kashmir High Court Gita Mittal, Dr Kevin Berry Brown, former judge of the Indian Supreme Court Justice Kurian Joseph, former judge of the Kenyan High Court Joyce Aluoch and Senior Reporter of online news portal dhakapost.com Mahidi Hsana Dalim.

Bangladesh International Mediation Society (BIMS) Chairman Advocate S N Goswami announced the names of the awardees in a programme organised at Hotel InterContinental Dhaka on Saturday. Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain was present in the programme as the chief guest.

The awards will be handed over to the awardees on November 4, the Constitution Day of Bangladesh, said BIMS chairman.

Later the Chief Justice handed over certificates among 280 judges who successfully completed a mediation related training course.

Organised by Bangladesh International Mediation Society, the ceremony was presided over by Justice Muhammad Imman Ali, an Appellate Division judge of the Supreme Court.

Senior District and Sessions Judges Sheikh Mofijur Rahman, Fazle Khoda Mohammad Nazir and Jayasri Samaddar and Bangladesh India Mediators Forum Chairman George Jishu Fida Viktor, addressed the function, among others.
