On the occasion of Milan Fashion Week, former president of BGMEA (Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association) Rubana Huq has been awarded the Human Right Award by the CNMI Sustainable Fashion Awards 2022.

The National Chamber of Italian Fashion (CNMI), in collaboration with the United Nations Ethical Fashion Initiative (Efi), a programme of the International Trade Center, and with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ice Agency and the Municipality of Milan, organised the ceremony for the delivery of the CNMI Sustainable Fashion Awards 2022 on Sunday.

The CNMI Sustainable Fashion Awards 2022 featured and awarded personalities who have emerged in the Italian and international fashion industry for their commitment to sustainability in its highest sense: vision, innovation, commitment to craftsmanship, inclusivity, circular economy, human rights and environmental justice.

Rubana Huq was recognised by the Artistic Director of Valentino, Pierpaolo Piccioli.

In her speech, Rubana paid tribute to garment workers and manufacturers and urged the fashion world to be more inclusive and considerate of apparel-producing countries and help them to graduate from basics to fashion.
