Pahela Baishakh

Pahela Baishak is the first day of Bangla New Year and it is celebrated by people of all walks of life regardless of cast, creed or religion. The occasion is eagerly awaited every year and we all celebrate it with festivity. On  Pahela Baishakh we see the city wear a festive look and there is festivity all around us. It looks like a city totally painted by red and white and it is amazing.  We see everyone enjoying the day despite hot and sultry weather of summer. The unforgiving and blazing Sun of Baishakh seems to burn all our disappointments and frustration and usher in new hopes and dreams. Traditionally the traders close their last year's account and open fresh accounts from the first day of the year and invite their customers and business associates to sweets and various delicacies.
 In our country particularly before and on the days of big occasions, many unfortunate incidents take place. Sometimes there are incidents of law and order violations. We hope, this time the Ministry of Home Affairs shall take  adequate steps so that the law and order situation remains under control and everyone can enjoy Pahela Baishakh amid fun and festivity.
