Dhaka chamber opens separate department for CMSME development

Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) has opened a separate ‘SME Development Department’ operating from 1st June, 2020 to facilitate its members of cottage, micro, small and medium enterprises sector amid the COVID-19 crisis.
The contribution of cottage, micro, small and medium enterprises (CMSMEs) to Bangladesh’s economy is undeniable. And the DCCI, the largest SME representative trade organisation in the country, has been working for the development of this sector for more than six decades, according to a statement released on Thursday.
Amid the coronavirus pandemic, the government has already announced stimulus packages for the development of affected CMSMEs. But there may be a few affected small entrepreneurs who might be deprived of getting this stimulus fund due to lack of completing proper documentation processes.
Considering the issue, the DCCI will guide its CMSME members through this department by providing necessary information to prepare proper documentation processes needed for getting stimulus from banks including other related advisory services.
To make the country’s economy strengthened and to recover it from the ongoing crisis, the CMSME sector must be given special consideration, the DCCI pointed out.
Thus, the DCCI took the initiative to facilitate its CMSME based members so that they can avail the stimulus which government has allocated and accordingly can contribute to the sustainable economic resilience.
