Rivals hack BNP leader to death in Chuadanga

A local BNP leader was hacked to death by rivals at Jugirhuda village in Alamdanga upazila on Saturday morning.

The deceased was identified as Helalul Islam Helal, son of Eldil Biswas. Helal was vice-president of Khadimpur union BNP of the upazila.

Quoting locals, Kalimullah, additional superintendent of Chuadanga police, said some miscreants numbering 4/5 attacked Helal at his paddy field around 9 am and hacked him indiscriminately, leaving him critically injured.

He later died on his way to hospital.

Victim's wife Razia Khatun alleged that police had arrested their neighbour and also a listed drug trader Manik along with Yaba few days ago. Manik blamed Helal for his arrest and threatened him in several ways, reports UNB.

The police official said that two police teams are working to arrest Manik.
