Police rescue abducted RU student in Dhaka

The abducted female student of Rajshahi University (RU) was rescued from Dhaka on Saturday noon.

She was allegedly abducted by her former husband from RU campus on Friday morning.

A team of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) rescued the female student and her former husband Sohel Rana with the help of Dhaka police.

RMP Commissioner Mahbubur Rahman confirmed the news about their recovery.

Mahbubur Rahman said the RMP will disclose details in this regard at a press briefing on Sunday.

Rajshahi University Proctor Prof Lutfor Rahman also confirmed the information.

The final year female student of Bangla department was abducted from in front of Bangamata Fazilatunnesa Hall of the university around 8:15 am on Friday.

The student is a resident of Tapashi Rabeya Hall. She was heading to department along with her two classmates to attend at final year examination.

Following the abduction, her fellow students started demonstration on the campus on Saturday morning demanding immediate rescue of the victim, according to UNB.

They formed a human chain in front of the university's main entrance. They also declared a two-hour ultimatum to find out their fellow.

The students submitted a memorandum to RU vice-chancellor demanding realisation of seven-point demand including finding out the abducted student immediately.
