BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, who tested Covid-19 positive on Saturday, may be taken to hospital if her physical conditions require better treatment facilities, especially intensive care unit ((ICU), according to her physicians.

Accordingly, a cabin has reportedly been booked at a private hospital in the city in case Khaleda Zia needs to be shifted.

However, a Bangla daily quoting her physicians said the former prime minister does not need ICU facilities at this stage.

“Madam Khaleda Zia doesn’t have signs of fever, cold, cough or irritation in the throat now… Still, arrangements have been made (for giving treatment at ICU),” Dr Md Al-Mamun was quoted to have said.

He added that she was being given treatment following consultation with the medical board assigned for the job.

Quoting physicians, the newspaper said daughter-in-law of Khaleda Zia, Zubaida Rahman, who herself is a physician, was looking after her treatment from London.

The BNP chief has been freed on parole since last year after spending more than two years in jail following her conviction in a graft case.
