Four to die for Kushtia double murder

A Kushtia court on Sunday sentenced four people to death and seven others to life imprisonment for killing two men in 2016 for protesting against eve-teasing of a seventh grader.

The convicts are – Kamal Hossain Malitha, son of Nurul Islam of Gopalnagar in Bheramara upazila; Kamrul Paramanik, son of Kabul Hossain Malitha; Sumon Pramanik; and Nayan Sheikh, son of Nazrul Islam of Fakrabad village of the same upazila.

Those sentenced to life imprisonment are – Nazrul Sheikh, Abdur Rahim, Mahfuzur Rahman, Hridoy Ali, Ziaul Islam, Samrat Ali and Arshaf Malitha of Fakrabad village.

Of the convicts, Nayan, Mahfuzur and Samrat are absconding.

Kushtia Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Munshi Md Moshiar Rahman delivered the verdict, UNB reported.

According to the prosecution, Muzibur Rahman and his uncle Mizanur Rahman were hacked to death by a group of people after they protested against the eve-teasing of a seventh-grader girl on April 25, 2016.

Muzibur’s son filed a case with Bheramara Police Station over the killing.
