Cops unearth double murder in Kakrail

The law-enforcers in the capital city have unearthed an incident of double murder.

Police said a woman and her son were found dead on Wednesday evening at an apartment opposite to Willes Little Flower School and College and west of Rajmoni Cinema Hall in Kakrail area.

The woman was identified as Shamsunnahar, wife of landlord Abdul Karim, and their son 'Shaon', 22.

Karim, a businessman, told the police he was not at home when the crime happened.

Ramna Police Station Inspector Ali Hossain said police went to the scene when they heard about the incident.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police Joint Commissioner Krishnapada Roy confirmed about several marks of wounds on the two bodies.

A knife was found near Shaon's body, he said.

Besides Shaon and his mother, their house help 'Rashida' was at the house during the incident.

She told the media that she was working at the kitchen.

"Someone suddenly locked the door of the kitchen from outside. I cried so that Amma (Shamsunnahar) could hear and open the door. But no one came for a long time," Rashida said.

"I heard a loud cry at the time. Later, the security guard opened the door," she said.

The guard of apartment told police that a man coming from upstairs told him that a fight had started there. Then he went to the upper floors and found the bodies.

DMP Additional Commissioner Navid Kamal said they were investigating how the killers entered the house, reports bdnews24.com.

Police officer Krishnapada said they have taken landlord Karim, the guard, and house help Rashida to the police station for interrogation.

Shamsunnahar is Karim's second wife, Krishnapada said. Their two other sons 'Munna' and 'Rony' live in the US and Canada, respectively, he said.

Karim owns a shop in Polwel Super Market at Naya Paltan. He is also involved in grocery business, Krishnapada said.

Rapid Action Battalion or RAB personnel were also seen at the scene.
