Armed robbery on passenger bus leaves driver dead in Savar

A bus driver was killed and its helper and supervisor were injured in a robbery attack on Nabinagar-Chandra highway in Sripur area under Ashulia thana on Tuesday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Shahjahan Miah, 35, driver of 'Dhaleswari Paribahan'.

Locals found the bus driver, supervisor, and helper injured in the stationary bus early in the morning and informed police.

Later, police rescued the injured and sent them to Ganashashtho Kendra Hospital where doctor declared Shahjahan dead, said sub-inspector Faruk Hossain of the Ashulia Police Station.

The helper Badsa Miah was sent to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital while the supervisor Shahidul Khan received primary treatment, according to a UNB report.

Sources said that a gang of 13 robbers attacked the bus and tried to take control of the bus early in the morning.

However, police could not give any information about the passengers of the bus.
