One dead, seven injured in Narsingdi clash

A man was killed and seven others were injured in a clash between two groups over establishing supremacy at Gazariakandi village in Raipura upazila of Narsingdi district on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Azgar Mia, 55 of the village.

Azizul Islam, officer-in-charge of Raipura police Station, said Shah Alam Mia, former member of Srinagar union and Abdul Khalek, current member of the union, had been at loggerheads over establishing supremacy in the area, reports UNB.

As sequel to the enmity, the supporters of both groups equipped with fishing spears (teta) attacked each other, leaving one person dead on the spot and seven others injured.

On information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control by dispersing the activists.

A tense situation has been prevailing in the area following the incident.
