There is no way to understand at first sight if it is a paved or kutcha road. Because the accumulated soil fallen from the tractors carrying soil for brick fields made the road muddy in different points of the road in Alfadanga upazila of Faridpur due to sudden rain recently.

It has been found that various important paved roads of Alfadanga upazila have now turned into muddy ones. Pedestrians are not able to walk on the roads barefoot. Motorcyclists in particular are worst sufferers. They are riding motorcycles risking accidents. The people and traders on the side of the road suffer a lot.

Locals allege that the mud has been created over the years by some illegal brick tractors, tractor-dumpers, trolleys paving the roads regularly. Soil meant for the brick kilns from the overloaded tractors falls on the road during the dry season. When it rains the paved roads become muddy causing suffering to the commuters and hindering transportation of daily necessities.

Sumon Ali, a motorcyclist who was travelling on the road, said that the soil that fell on the road from the soil carrying trucks engaged in brick kiln work dries up on the road and becomes dust and later mud in the rain. There is no way to understand it is a carpeted road. Due to this, it is difficult to travel on this road throughout the year.

However, if no action is taken on these important roads now, they will soon become impassable, especially in the coming monsoon season. Therefore, necessary steps should be taken now. Otherwise big accidents can happen. The locals have demanded of the authority concerned to take necessary steps in this regard.
