Faridpur sees first death from coronavirus

An octogenarian man, who had been infected with coronavirus, died at his house at Razapur village of Boalmari upazila in in Faridpur on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Khairul Alam, 80.

District Civil Surgeon Dr Siddiqur Rahman, said the man, also a freedom fighter and his wife aged about 70 have been tested positive for coronavirus on Sunday and they are being given treatment at their home.

Besides, the man recently visited his son’s house in Dhaka for treatment purpose.

Md. Alimuzzaman, superintendent of Faridpur Police said all preparation have been taken to bury the freedom fighter with state honour and as per the government’s burial guidelines.

Besides, nine more people have been found infected with the virus in the last 24 hours, raising the number of confirmed coronavirus cases to 69.

The country has reported 25,121 confirmed cases of coronaviurs with the detection of 1,252 new cases on Tuesday while 370 deaths with 21 more news deaths on Tuesday, reports UNB.
