Collapsed road brings suffering to Faridpur municipal area people

People in Ward No. 26 of Faridpur municipality are in great trouble as 800-metreportion of an important road collapsed into a canal around two years ago but the authority concerned did not take any measures to repair the road.

Thousands of people from at least four villages including Chowhatta, East Bilhamudpur, Seeken turns, Char Sadipur, Dangi of Matjubar, Gazaria and Gazaria use this important road. At least thousands of students travel to different educational institutions including Government Rajendra College, Sarda Sundari Mahila College, Government Yasin College, Faridpur Polytechnic Institute, Faridpur Engineering College through that road. The common people and students of the area have been facing great difficulties after collapse of the road.

Some locals said road accidents occur frequently in the area. Auto-rickshaws and vans sometimes use the road at risk.

A few days ago a mother and her daughter were burnt to death when fire service's vehicles and an ambulance failed to reach the house in time due to deplorable condition of the road.

"The government should take effective measures in this regard immediately. No vehicles can use the road", they said.

Mayor of Faridpur Municipality Sheikh Mahtab Ali Methu said the road was slightly reformed. The road will be repaired soon by taking a project.
