BWDB gets new building

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is set to inaugurate the newly-constructed Pani Bhaban on Thursday at the capital’s Green Road area through a videoconference.

Constructed at a cost of Tk 2.61 billion, the foundation stone of the 12-storied building was laid on January 31, 2015, by the prime minister, reports BSS.

Built in line with the design made by engineers of Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB), it took around 4.5 years to construct the building with 4,20,000 square feet space.

The modern installation has a central air conditioning system, solar panels, and sewage treatment plant and rain water reservoir.

According to a press release, it has an auditorium to host 536 people at a time, with a helipad of 4,500 square feet, parking facility for 376 vehicles and state of the art firefighting system.

A pond with memories related to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, has been kept intact while constructing the building and a water body of 20,625 square feet was also made.
