Govt reconstitutes CWG on BBIN MVA project

The government has reconstituted the customs working group (CWG) on the much-anticipated Bangladesh-Bhutan-India-Nepal Motor Vehicles Agreement (BBIN-MVA) on customs-related issues, officials said.

The group was formed following a decision taken at the sub-regional groupings' last meeting on the MVA held in New Delhi on March 7-8, 2022.

According to the request of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Board of Revenue (NBR) recently issued an office order regarding the matter.

Earlier, the agreement for the regulation of Passenger, Personal and Cargo Vehicular Traffic between the four countries was signed during a meeting held in Bhutan's capital Thimpu on June 15, 2015.

The CWG will fix the customs-related issues on entrance and departure of vehicles, products and passengers.

It will fix necessary customs guarantees and also secure the transit fee, charge, etc.
