Monno Ceramic tops DSE turnover chart this week

The ten most-traded companies accounted for one-third of transactions on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) this week, with Monno Ceramic Industries dominating the turnover chart.

Market operators said the investors were active in both buying and selling of Monno Ceramic shares throughout the week. Two corporate directors of the company last week declared to sell 1.60 million shares in the block market within the next 30 working days, which also contributed to the higher turnover.

According to DSE data, some 10.16 million Monno Ceramic shares were traded during the week, generating a turnover of Tk 1.39 billion, which was 8.26 per cent of the week's total turnover of Tk 16.81 billion.

The company's share price closed at Tk 130.70 on Thursday, losing 5.50 per cent over the week before.

Its share, however, soared 35 per cent in the past one month defying the bearish trend of the market.

The board of the company declared a 10 per cent cash dividend to general shareholders other than sponsors/directors for the year ended June 30, 2022.

Its first quarter earnings per share dropped 81 per cent year-on-year to Tk 0.04 for July-September 2022.

Intraco Refuelling Station came second on the turnover chart, with shares worth Tk 846 million changing hands during the week. The company's share price dropped 7.89 per cent to close at Tk 42 on Thursday.

Bashundhara Paper Mills clinched the third spot, with shares worth Tk 584 million changing hands. The company's share closed at Tk 73.80 on Thursday, losing 7.29 per cent over the previous week.

Monno Agro & General Machinery emerged as fourth, with shares worth Tk 531 million changing hands. The company's share rose 1.58 per cent to close at Tk 850 on Thursday.

Genex Infosys notched the fifth spot, with shares worth Tk 498 million changing hands. The company's share price closed at Tk 79.10, losing 10.92 per cent.

Orion Infusions featured a turnover of Tk 407 million. Its share closed at Tk 528.30, shedding 26.66 per cent over the previous week. It was also the week's worst lower.
