Australia win by 8 wickets against West Indies in a one-sided contest.

Aaron Finch and David Warner opened the chase for the Aussies. With South Africa hanging around for the semi-finals spot, the Aussies had to chase 158 as fast as possible as the Net Run Rate will come to play if the Proteas manage to beat England in the evening game tonight.

David Warner started his entertaining innings like he used to do before. He took on Jason Holder and smacked him for 3 consecutive boundaries in the very 2nd over.

Aaron Finch (9 off 11 balls) returned to the pavilion early today after he chopped on his stumps trying to cut a ball. But warner kept his boundary feats as he smoked Akeal Hosein for a huge 6 and a boundary in the same over, making his intentions clear.

Both David Warner and Mitchell Marsh took on the off form bowling attack and dominated their way to the chase.

Chris Gayle was given the 16th over when he took Mitchell Marsh (53 off 32 balls) as his final international wicket. The whole team rejoiced as the legend celebrated in style.

David Warned scored the winning runs in the 17th over after scoring a fabulous 89* off only 56 balls.

Earlier in the innings, Evin Lewis got Windies to a flying start after smacking Josh Hazelwood for 3 consecutive boundaries in his first over. Chris Gayle joined the party and hit two sixes in his short stint. The stage was set for a Gayle storm in hot Abu Dhabi weather.

But the storm was cut short (15 off 9) when he was bowled off an inside edge by Pat Cummins. The 'Universal Boss' exited the world stage with a huge cheering from the crowd and a standing ovation from his teammates.

A Brilliant josh Hazelwood picked Pooran (4 off 4) and Roston Chase for a duck in his very 2nd over. Windies were 50-3 at the end of the powerplay which is their 2nd highest powerplay score in this World Cup.

Evinlewis (29 0ff 24) chipped one high in the air at long-on off Zampa’s googly. This made Adam Zampa the leading wicket-taker of Super 12 so far.

ShimronHetmeyer and Kieron Pollard tried to rebuild the sinking Caribbean ship after the departure of Lewis.

Hetmeyer (27 off 28 balls) and DJ Bravo (10 off 12 balls) were dismissed by two sensational deliveries from Josh Hazelwood.

DJ Bravo left the world stage for the final time with tremendous cheering from the crowd. The veteran announced retirement from all formats of Cricket earlier.

Kieron Pollard (44 off 31 balls)  accelerated in the death overs before Starc picked him up in the final over. Andre Russell hit a 111m six off a Starc slower to record the longest six of the tournament.

Josh Hazelwood finished a phenomenal spell with a 4-0-39-4 figure to restrict the Caribbeans to a decent total.

Chris Gayle and Dwayne Bravo were given a guard of honour by the Australians as they walked out of the biggest stage and international cricket one last time.

David Warner was judged the Player of the Match for his match-winning innings of unbeaten 89.
