Namibia defeat Netherlands by 6 wickets with 1 over in hand to keep their super 12 dream alive.

In response to the target of 165, Namibia had a somewhat satisfactory powerplay with 41/1 on the board.

However, they just started losing their way a little bit in the following overs. At the end of the ninth over, they were stuttering at 52/3.

David Wiese and Gerhard Erasmus then started to flex their muscles with a couple of sixes against van der Merwe in the tenth over. And from that over onwards, it was absolute carnage.

This partnership was broken as Erasmus got dismissed for 32 off 22. Till then, the pair accumulated 93 runs in just 53 balls and took Namibia within a touching distance to the target.

Wiese (66* off 40), along with Smit (14* off 8), did the rest to have their side go over the line.

Fred Klaassen was the pick of the bowlers for the Dutch with his miser spell of 1/14 in four overs.

Earlier today, after being put into bat first, Netherlands had a decent start with an opening stand of 42 runs in 5.4 overs. However, Namibia came back into the game picking up two wickets - Myburgh and van Der Merwe - in quick succession. Halfway through, Netherlands were 69/2.

In the latter half of the innings, Max O’Dowd carried his team on his shoulder with his 70 off 56 deliveries, thanks to the Namibian fielders for letting plenty of opportunities go in the form of drop catches and missed run-outs.

Ackermann also chipped in with his 35 off 32. In the end, Scott Edward’s cameo (21* off 11) made sure that the Netherlands posted a formidable total on the board.

For Namibia, almost all the bowlers were a touch expensive considering the pitch. Jan Frylinck contributed well by picking up a couple of wickets.

David Wiese has been adjudged the Player of the Match for his all-round performance of unbeaten 66 off 40 deliveries and 1/32 in four overs.
