Legacy vs Spirit in Sri Lanka - Namibia clash

One of the most successful sides of the competition, Sri Lanka will start their World T20 campaign today against debutants Namibia in Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi.

The match is scheduled to start at 8 pm Bangladesh time.

The opening line itself depicts the difference between the two sides and evidence of which side is favourite to win.

Sri Lanka have won both of their official practice games while Namibia had the exact opposite result. But Namibia have won 18 of their 22 T20Is and each of their last six games (although, only 1 against a test playing nation).

Their opening batsman Craig Willams is in tremendous form with 245 runs and four fifties in his last four innings. Names like David Wiese, a South African cap in the last World T20, also boost their middle order.

Captain Gerhard Erasmus, off-spinner Bernard Scholtz and all-rounder Johannes Smit are other names to look at.

On the other hand, Sri Lanka-- struggling with form throughout the year, might have picked up the form at the right moment.

Hasaranga is in excellent form. Avishka Fernando has been impressive in the No. 4 in practice matches. Their focal point Kusal Perera is still in some doubt with an injury.

But these things should not create any problem for them to secure a win against a side, much inexperience compared to them.
