UNO foils child marriage in Brahmanbaria

A ninth-grader girl was saved from the curse of untimely wedlock by the intervention of Brahmanbaria’s Bancharampur upazila administration.

Parvin Akhter, a student of Ruposdi Brindabon School was getting ready to arrange the wedding with a young man of Kanchanpur village on Sunday afternoon.

But the Upazila Nirbahi Officer, Md Shariful Islam along with Secondary Education officer, Md Abu Towhid stepped in after being tipped-off.

Later, they foiled the attempt and took a bond from the girl's parents, according to a local news agency.
