A landslide in southwest China has killed three people and left another three missing, authorities said Sunday.

Ten people were at the spot when the landslide struck a highway in Libo county, Guizhou Province, around 6 p.m. Saturday, the local government said.

One managed to escape, while three others were saved by rescuers.

Initial investigation showed that the landslide was caused by heavy
downpours.

Rescue work is ongoing.
