The ARENA OF VALOR: Oriental Phoenix becomes first-ever champions in Bangladesh

ARENA OF VALOR announced the final results of the Bangladesh Championship 2021, a first-of-its-kind tournament hosted in three cities, Dhaka, Khulna and Chittagong from December 16 to January 21. Oriental Phoenix earned the title of ARENA OF VALOR Bangladesh Champions, winning BDT 1.20 million as the first prize of the tournament.

The top eight teams from the City Qualifiers and Wildcard Online rounds battled head-to-head in double elimination style tournament. Throughout the playoff rounds, Oriential Phoenix’s (Team Members: Ashadullah Al Galib, Abdullah Al Mashud, Fahraj Jamin Sparsha, Nafees Ahmed, Abrar Shahriar Subat, Fardin Hasan, Sheikh Matiur Rahman) performance was impressive and the team displayed a great deal of confidence, pulling through to the top. WE Esports Armada (Team Members: Madhurjo Rahman, Nayeem Ferdous, Jihan Rahman Joy, Md. Zobayer Ahamed, Shopon Chandra Pal, Nayeem Ferdous) fought immensely hard against them in the finale, but were declared the Runner-Ups. 

“I’m so proud of how hard my team fought and played throughout the tournament. I still can’t believe we made it this far,” said the team captain from Oriental Phoenix. “Now, we’re looking to the future and looking forward to practicing and getting ourselves ready for the upcoming Asian Games this year.”

“This tournament is definitely setting up a milestone for the esports community of Bangladesh and this is just the beginning for players here. Seeing this tournament will encourage more people to play ARENA OF VALOR,” said one player from WE Esports Armada.

The tournament kicked off with 191 teams registered for Dhaka Qualifiers and in total 5,000+ Players from three different cities and online, competing in the epic 5v5 multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game. All matches were streamed live with commentators tracking and highlighting the teams’ moves.

The Bangladesh Championship is the biggest and first-ever esports event hosted in this region by ARENA OF VALOR. Based on the tournament this time, ARENA OF VALOR has moved into a co-operation with the emerging global smartphone brand Infinix. According to ARENA OF VALOR Bangladesh Country Head Kazi Arafat Hossain, ‘’ARENA OF VALOR has taken the first step towards the development of the esports industry of Bangladesh and this marks the start of the long term development plan for the community and players.’’ He also stated his hope in these development structures and National level tournaments will fulfil his dreams of Bangladesh to win a medal in Asian Olympics.

Last year, ARENA OF VALOR announced that a separate version of the game will be created for the upcoming Asian Games, which will take place this year in Hangzhou, China from September 10 to September 25. Players from around the world, including Bangladesh, will be able to participate in the competitive spirit that the game offers and make their country proud.
